For Their First Trip to Visit the Mouse

Some friends of mine that live just down the street from me took their family on a trip to Disneyland, or as my husband refers to it "visiting the mouse." 🐭

To celebrate this event, I made them a fun little photo book to put some of their pictures in.

I've seen so many of these little accordion style albums online I thought it would be fun to give it a try.

No chipboard, just cardstock and Kraftex in this deceptively large-album-in-a-small-package.

In fact, I started with just a 1/2" spine, but after inserting the accordion folded section I immediately knew I needed a larger spine. That's where the Kraftex came in. I cut the spines off the album and reattached the back and front panels to the new 1" Kraftex spines which I embossed using a star folder and Cuttlebug.

I also realized my original magnet style closure wasn't going to be strong enough either. I ended up using some elastic and brads to make an expandable closure.

I only covered one of the tags with paper before deciding not to cover the tags. So going forward all the other tags will just be black card.some have red and white twine and some don't depending on where the pockets are.

Diagonal pocket with decoratively-punched edge:

The first page (diagonal pocket from above pic) pulls out to the right and provides five pages and pockets to add pictures and journaling to.
Here are pages 2 and 3. This double page layout was really fun to make. I decided to make decorative cuts into the paper to make the pockets for the tags.

Here are pages 4 and 5.

Page 4 (moving from right to left) has a small corner strap holding the removable tag.

And page 5 has a side pocket with removable tag.

And that's the the first half. Now for the second half or backside of those previous pages....

Behind the diagonal pocket-front-page, are two additional vertical pockets holding two more tags:

Page 2 is another creative pocket. I cut around Mickey and the Star to create this large pocket to put a tag into.  (sorry for the blurry pic.)

These are pages 3 and 4 of the reverse side

Page 3 has a side pocket to hold a tag.

And page 4 has a corner band.

Then pages 5 and 6

Page 5 has a side pocket with a tag.
And page 6 is a full page pocket with a top opening for a tag.

This picture shows the back of the full page pocket (tag re-inserted) and the back inside cover of the album. The "Oh Boy!" papered area is a belly band which could hold an additional tag or a picture could be placed behind it.

And this picture shows the full wrap around cover of the album fully opened.

This was my first accordion album but I'm thinking it won't be my last. It was a lot of fun to make, not terribly difficult, and easy to work pockets and tags into it for those that love interactive albums.

Well, that's it for today. That
Now for stopping by for a visit. Have a terrific weekend!
