Another journal... or 2 (part one)

Hiya!  Happy Sunday,
Yesterday afternoon I altered another journal. This one was for a girl who listed blue as her favorite color and lacy/vintage as a favorite theme/motif.

Found a really cool flocked paper inside the MAMBI (Me and My Big Ideas) baby stack which gave it the vintage feel I was after. And a bit of Martha-punching gave me the lace I needed (Thank You Wende!!)

I used an embossing folder and a bit of ink to give the "H" some love.  All in all, I'm really happy with how it turned out.
Hope you're Sunday is going well.  I'll be back with the second journal later. We've got a rippin-good storm going on outside... thunder, lightening and LOTS of water...  and I'm not 100% sure if we'll have electricity in a few minutes. So I'm signing off for the night.

More Extreeeeeme Crafting

Hiya!
I made some fun magnets yesterday. It turned into an extreme experience ... but more on that later.

The magnets are clothes pins that have been altered a bit. I started by added a layered rosette to the face.

And decided to add a ring to the bottom to give the option to hang a message there.

And the opening for the clothes pin is at the top so you could easily slip any additional messages, coupons, pictures there too.

Kinda fun, right?  And based on the papers you choose, it would be very easy to make them up for holidays or based on decor of the room where it would be employed.

So I mentioned that this craft turned extreme ...   I've made dozens of these little accordion-fold rosettes and I've never had a problem. Until yesterday. I had just put down a couple swirly circles of hot glue on the back of the rosette. I was holding the flattened rosette with my left hand, returned the hot glue gun to its holder with my right and went to pick up a small piece of cardstock when *ACK!*  I guess I didn't have a good enough hold on the rosette. It popped up and the hot glue got my hand.   I don't usually swear, but I will sadly admit that I said a few choice words when this happened. Then I went and grabbed an ice pack.  I couldn't pull the glue off because the skin was already bubbling up underneath it and I didn't want to rip open my hand.  My left hand was tender to the touch all the rest of the day but this morning it seems to be much better. The skin is still lumpy. Time will tell whether it will scar or not.

So, lesson learned. Don't get too comfortable around hot glue.  Or you may end up with an owey.

Hope you are all having a great day!

Summer's over!

Hiya !! Smiley from millan.net
Long time no see, right?! Sorry I haven't been around much. We had family in town and daily swimming lessons Smiley from millan.net and Meet the Teacher and some how I managed to fit a bit of crafting in there. Hopefully over the next few days I'll get to show you some of my projects.

I created another personalized journal (altered comp book) for a young lady that I know from church who just turned 12 years old. Her birthday is on July 4th! Smiley from millan.net And according to her mom she still loves that she shares her birthday with Independence Day  (Sweeeeet!)

Anyway, I know that the count down is on for everyone as kids start heading back to school.  I don't know where the summer break went, but today, for us, it's officially over. My son went back to school this morning. Woohoo! Welcome to 1st Grade kiddo! 6 year olds are too funny. He was so excited to show his friends at school his new tennis shoes.  (Really, honey? I don't think they'll care, but ... OK.)Smiley from millan.net
Hope you all are having a fabulous day.
