Circle of Influence

Ooooopsey! I meant to get this post up earlier (as in yesterday morning) !! ACK!  Better late than never, right?
I put together these cute little hot cocoa gifts for a few friends from church and inserted a great quote printed onto a bookmark that they can use in their scripture or a favorite book.
The bookmark is simple on purpose. I wanted the  focus to be on the quote.

And as you can see, it's tall enough that it doesn't get lost inside the mug :)

If you want to download the quote, you can see the original message HERE or ....   You can get my wordart  HERE

Thanks for being patient with me and my sporadic posting. I'm truly trying to get a schedule so that it's not too overwhelming for me, and you all don't think I've dropped off the planet. I started this blog for my online crafty friends. I owe you all so much. Thank you for your love and support.  And I hope and pray that you will all be blessed beyond measure in the coming New Year! (Time to start training my brain to write 2012!! Oh my golly!)

A Shoe for Every Occassion

How was your Christmas?! We had a wonderful weekend. We spent some of it with extended family and the rest with just our small family.
Today I'm sharing #3 on my count-down of journals. I can't believe I have just two more to make.

The young lady that is receiving this journal loves shoes. And not in just a she-has-a-few-pairs type of adoration either.

Her mom found me the decorative paper with the shoes on it. I used cardstock and papers from my stash that coordinated with it.
I'll find out in a few days if she likes it.
Thanks again for stopping by. Have a wonderful day.

Merry, Merry...

Well, the decorations are up...

... and the treats are out.

My 6 year old wrote the letter by himself even telling his dad that he didn't need help with he words because they were his spelling words. And the little reindeer ornament was placed with the treats because he wanted to be sure that Santa knew he was a boy.

Wishing you all a wonderful Christmas! May you be blessed with your heart's desire.

Beautiful B

Happy Friday before Christmas! Today I'm showing you #4 on my count-down of journals left until the end of the year.

Aren't these My Mind's Eye paper cute?  So much fun but not too crazy. The young lady that will receive this journal likes purple and "random stuff". (yes... her words exactly.)
Thank goodness this collection has a wonderfully coordinated mix-and-match of patterns and colors. It was exactly what I needed.
Hope you have a terrific day! Thanks for stopping by for a visit.

Mah-vel-ous M journal

It's been a while since I've posted a journal. I know you miss seeing them, right? Well, the countdown is on. I think I have just four left.
The cute girl who is receiving this journal loves aqua and green. And {shock} zebra!.  Well.... I couldn't stop with just the blue and green. I had to add a hit of pink to really set it off.

I also added in one of my soda can charms since it was in the same color scheme.
Can't wait to see what she thinks.
Thanks for visiting. Hope you have a marvelous day!

Mesh Wreath

How's your day going? I've been out of town so now I'm playing catch-up. All the last minute things to do before the BIG visit from Santa. We finally got our Christmas tree put up and decorated and my small collection of Santas are on display. My latest addition to the festive decor is a new wreath for the front door.
I picked up the red, glittery mesh at Hobby Lobby as well as the citrus green, polka dotted ribbon and gold chenille stems.
The pictures really don't do it justice. I think it's much prettier in person. And if you think it looks like a 1st grader made it, well.... you'd be half-right!  My son and I made it together. He's quite proud of his creation. And so am I.

Hope you have a fantastic day! Thanks for your visit.

Wedding gift wrapping

Happy Friday! I decided to put together another paper bag wrapped gift.

I used a quote from F. Burton Howard about how to keep marriage special. Definitely perfect for a wedding gift, right?
And now it's all packaged up and shipped off to the excited couple. We really wanted to be able to go back and see them married. We've known the groom since he was 10 years old.... when he and his younger brother had their own little business. They didn't do a lemonade stand like other kids. No, the younger brother  used to charge the girls at school $1 for a chance to kiss the older one. HA!  {Yes! They really did that. LOL}

Ok.... off to spread more merriment! Have a wonderful weekend.

Nauvoo Temple card

I decided to put together a card to go along with the Nauvoo Temple ornament I made for my friends that are getting married. As you can see, I have already signed the inside of the card. In fact, I was in the process of putting it in the envelope when I realized I hadn't taken any pictures of it. {gasp!}

I decided to use a picture of the entrance of the temple. The perspective was also looking from the ground up so the base is a bit wider than the top even though the building itself is complete right-angles.

You can see how it has a lot of dimension once all the pieces are stacked up and glued together.

And then the added shimmer from a Stardust pen is so perfect.
That's all for now.  Have a wonderful afternoon! Thanks for stopping by.

Nauvoo ornament

Happy Monday!  Isn't this so pretty?!

This little treat is for some friends of our that are getting married next weekend.  The building pictured on the ornament is the LDS (Mormon) Temple located in Nauvoo, IL.

I put their names and the date of their wedding on the back side.

Even though they are getting married in the winter time, I thought the ornament was too blah without the flowering branches and grass and flowers along the bottom. So the ornament has more of a spring or summer look instead of winter, but I love it. The glittery look is not glitter at all. It is clear micro beads. The glimmer is caused when the flash from my camera hits the beads.
Anyway,....  Sending our best wishes to JC & Melanie for a beautiful wedding day and a long future together. We wish we could be there with you but we can't.
Thanks so much for visiting today. Hope you all have a wonderful day!

Super S journal

Happy Friday! Another week closer to Christmas...
I have another journal for you today. I know... You're shocked. {Sorry... almost done. Promise}
The young lady that will receive this journal loves red and spots, but not polka dots. (Yes, that is exactly what she said.) So.... I just left the the whole spots/dots thing alone and did something kinda cool and classy like her. I used some dimensional glaze to create the studs around the "S" and also to accent the scallop circle.
She will receive her journal on Sunday. I sure hope she likes it. (I'm fairly certain she has no idea that I have a blog. Fingers crossed that I'm right.)
We are putting the Christmas tree up this weekend. I suppose we're a bit behind the rest of our friends and neighbors, but better late than never, right?
Thanks for stopping by for a visit. Have a great day and a wonderful weekend!

Great giftwrapping idea!

I am so excited to share something with you today! Seriously! Love, LOVE, LOVE this idea! And I'm so happy that SweetFloweret posted it on her blog, and someone else posted it to Pinterest.

See that picture up there???  That is a standard lunch bag that I've turned into a gift bag by printing on it. Isn't that grand? Many of us make treats or give small gifts that would easily fit in a small gift bag, right? Lunch bags come in basic Kraft brown or white and can be found at the grocery store or Walmart for pennies a piece. For a bit more money,  paper bag-style bags can be found at the craft store in a range of other colors. Many of the craft store bags have a shiny finish on them so I'm not sure how they would work with this project. If you try it, let me know!

Every year my sister and I get together to make our annual Christmas ornaments which we give or send to family and friends far and near. We make approximately 100 of the little beauties each year. And every year we are faced with how we are going to present them to the recipients.
I used my laserjet printer, but I'm sure it would work with an inkjet too.  Then I cut a slit in the bag just above the quote, inserted a length of ribbon, folded over the top of the bag to where the ribbon was, and tied the ribbon into a bow.

And since I printed my name on the bag, there is no tag or card to worry about  getting lost.
Hopefully this is something you can use for your gift wrapping needs also.

Thanks so much for visiting me today. Hope you have a delightful day!

Is that a purple zebra... journal?

Happy Monday! So? Are you done with your Christmas or Hanukkah shopping?  Holy guacamole! Did you see some of the crazy news coverage on the Black Friday shoppers? I can't believe some woman was pepper spraying other shoppers so she could get to the merchandise first.  Really?! What is up with that? Brings a whole new perspective on shopping online....Not only does it spare you the parking hassles and crowds. No psychos.

I have another "A" journal for you today. And, surprise! The zebra and glitter theme is still running strong.  I used Versamark to stamp the background on a light lavender cardstock. Then brushed on several different colors of Perfect Pearls to give it a subtle color and glimmer.

I used the same lavender cardstock to create the two strips of zebra embossed details. I love the texture that embossing/debossing gives. But I thought it needed a little bit more something. So I decided to mix up some more glitter glue. It can be a bit deceiving when you first paint it on because of the whiteness of the ModPodge covering some of the glitter. But what a WOW it gives when it dries (see above.)
Well, I'm on the home stretch on the journals. Just six more. What a project it has been.
Thanks so much for visiting me today. Hope you have a terrific day!

Another "A" Journal

Another day, another journal... :)   And OH MY GOODNESS! It's December 1st! Seriously, wasn't it just Halloween??

The cute girl who received this journal loves orange, zebra and sparkles. My biggest concern with the glitter that I applied to the journal was that it would flake off over time. So, to prevent that from happening, I mixed it with some ModPodge before painting it onto the various areas.
The upside of doing it this way is the recipient doesn't end up wearing glitter every time she handles her journal! One slight downside is that by mixing it in the glue and painting it on the color of the glitter was lightened. Not sure if the glue or the paintbrush was the culprit. The glitter was a brown color before and now it's more like golden beige. It's just a slight color variation, but if you're trying to color match it might matter to you if you use this same technique on your own project. I definitely recommend testing it before committing to big bowl of no-longer-matching glitter glue.

Okey dokey. That's it for today.
Thanks again for stopping by. Hope you have a wonderful day!
