Another notebook

I know I haven't been on much recently. I hope your Thanksgiving day was a wonderful holiday for you.  I've been busy making notebooks because I had to make several before we hosted out of town family. I've been using my dining room table to do all my crafting lately and obviously that wouldn't work with wanting space for everyone to be able to gather around the dinner table.

Anyway, this notebook is for a young lady that loves blue and zebra.
The combination of the denim-blue and kraft with the black and white... I'm so happy with how it turned out.
But I have to say, I'm running out of ideas for working zebra into these notebooks.  It's like an epidemic ... all these girls love zebra. Go figure. I have 3-4 more zebra themes coming up. Wish me luck.
OK... times to get my Black Friday shopping groove on. Thanks for stopping by. Have a wonderful day!

Happy Thanksgiving

Smiley from millan.net
I hope you all are having a wonderful day. We are spending the day with my in-laws. My son has been in heaven going to the park, feeding the ducks and riding his scooter all over the neighborhood while I created the Thanksgiving feast!

I am thankful for your friendship and wish you and your loved ones all the blessings that heaven bestows on you!
Thank you for stopping by. Have a wonderful day!

Choose the Right plaque

Late last week our church's women's organization got together to do a bit of sharing and creating! We were each asked to submit Traditions that our families observe and favorite family treats.  In addition to that, we were each given a piece of parchment cardstock and asked to print a family motto on it to bring to the activity. Honestly, I forgot about the motto until the last minute and when I asked my sweet hubby to help me come up with one he kept throwing out silly things I couldn't see hanging on my wall at home. So, I decided to do something a bit different. Our son has discovered the wide world of lies and fibs. Oh yes, the sad day has arrived. He hides notes from his teacher when he gets in trouble at school. He hides the food when he's caught eating in the TV room. So... I decided to dedicate this plaque to him.

I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted at first, but lo and behold I discovered a fun printable on etsy. And with some fabulous help from my sister, I cut the design out of navy blue vinyl after painting the pine board cream.

A small picture hanger was nailed to the top center and a couple hot glue bumpers were attached to the bottom corners to protect my wall.

I love easy projects! I was almost an hour late to the activity because of some last minute design tweaks, but I was one of the first to leave since I didn't have to wait for ModPodge to dry. If you haven't tried working with vinyl you should give it a try. It's great stuff! and available in so many colors now.

Thanks Purple Designs for the inspiration. And muchas gracias Judi for your technical assist!
Thanks for stopping by for a visit. Have a fantastic day!!

Happy Veteran's Day

I have another cute notebook to share with you today.

The young lady that received this book loves the color green, dogs and lace.  I was so happy to find a piece of paper with dogs on it in one of the baby boy stacks I had in my stash.

And I made great use of a border punch I snatched up with a coupon. I love not having to pay full retail price. :)

Smiley from millan.net And before I sign off today I want to give a HUGE, heartfelt thank you to those serving or have served our nation. We wouldn't have the freedoms we enjoy without you.
No school today so I'm off to play with my little buddy. Have a great day!
Thanks for stopping by for a peek.

Easy Mini Album

Have you ever needed a nice but easy gift? Maybe a thank you gift? Or a Thinking of You gift? Maybe even a birthday or baby gift? Well, if you have a piece of nice cardstock for a cover, a handful of white or preferred color for the interior pages, a coordinating ribbon and a hole punch you will have an album in minutes. Really.

First thing you do is take some cardstock and cut it in half so that you have two 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" pieces.  This will be the finished size of your mini album.  Next, take one piece of your cover cardstock and score it 1" from the left edge along the shortest side.  Then measure and punch a couple holes inside that 1" area (see picture below). I punched my holes at 1/2" from the left side, 1" from the top and bottom edges.

Next, you will want to take several pieces of cardstock or sturdy paper and create your interior pages. Cut them in half just like you did the cover cardstock. Since my pages are white and I didn't want them peeking out around the black cover, I trimmed an additional 1/8" from the length and height of the pages. To make it easier for the pages to fold once the book is put together, you will also want to score at 1" from the left edge just like with the cover.

Line up one of your interior pages with the cover and mark where you want to punch your holes and then use it as a template so that you can punch holes in all of your pages.

Stack up all your pages. Put the cover piece without the scoreline on the bottom. Put the cover piece with the scoreline on top. Thread your ribbon or twine or whatever it is you want to hold your album together through the holes and tie a bow/knot.  Decorate the cover and you're done.   For my album I used a black elastic and a bit of bamboo trimmed to size.

I think total time to make the album took me about 20 minutes... only because I had to hunt down the black elastic, and I was talking with my sister on the phone at the same time (Crafting with friends is more fun!) and three punches into this project my hole punch died. (RIP dude). So I had to hunt down a second hold punch. (Thank goodness for my son's school supplies.)

That's it. Easy, right?!
Well, thanks for stopping by. I really appreciate it. Have a fantastic day!

Thinking about Christmas

I know I haven't been blogging much... I'm teaching a magnet making class tonight so I've been in prep mode getting ready for that: Purchasing, flattening bottlecaps, printing and punching out designs, bagging up kits in little baggies. Lots of busy work for me but hopefully it will make everything tonight go more smoothly.  Anyway.....
While I was out and about looking for a birthday present for my mom last week I got an idea to make a follow-up project similar to the wildly popular Joy-Hope-Peace-Believe design I created a few years ago.
The idea came when I saw this cute little iron wall hanging.

The size of this design fits a 12x12 mat. Requires and Expression due to the size. If you want a different size send me a message. I'll see what I can do.
Ok, I'm outta here. Short and sweet, I know. Still lots to do to get ready for tonight. If you have any questions feel free to send me a message.
Have a great weekend! Thanks for stopping by.
