Homemade Crusty Bead

Do you have a food weakness? I do. I love fresh bread. It's a REAL weakness for me. Especially if it's hot from the oven fresh! You know the yumminess I'm talking about, right?  It can be found at your favorite bakery. Or... You go to your favorite little restaurant and they bring a small cutting board with a serrated knife and steamy hot loaf of bread to munch on while you wait for your dinner to be served.

Box of goodies

Hope you have all had an enjoyable Sunday. It's been a beautiful day here. Today after church my son and I came home and decorated his Valentine's Box. We hit the craft store yesterday and picked out some fun papers. And what started out looking like this...

Celebrating the Presidents

Hiya !!!
Little by little.. Bit by bit...  I'm getting things put back into usable order.

Amongst all of my technical issues my little boy was also hit with some kind of flu bug too. I should have known he was in for a wild ride when he had a fever. He never gets a fever. He's one of those kids that gets 'stealthy' ear infections. I say stealthy because you don't know he's even got one until the fluid starts coming from his ears.  Long story short.. he was sick all weekend and even missed some school this week. Poor kid.

Then you add to that the fact that his mom is stressing out about technical issues.  Oh yeah! It's been a treat here!

Ok, nuff o' that....   I actually have something crafty to share with you.

Yesterday I got working on my son's Family Project for school.  With President's Day coming up this month's project is all about the presidents. So of course I had to start going through my cartridges to find out what would work or not.  I have the My World cart which is so great for this theme, but we couldn't choose Washington or Lincoln. We had to choose a different president.  So since my hubby is all about history and politics and such I let him choose. He chose Calvin Coolidge. First we discovered that he was born on 4th of July. Then, there happens to be a Coolidge damn and a Coolidge city here in AZ which were both named for him... ta-da! Three facts down. Two to go. (He has to present five facts to his class.)  lol

But I digress...I really am getting to the crafty part. Really.

I wanted to put a White House on his presentation board. But, wouldn't you know it, there isn't one on the My World cart. Or anywhere in the Cricut library (or at least it wasn't coming up in the keyword search in DS). So, I went and found a picture of the White House and drew one out in Inkscape so that I could cut it using SCAL.

I'm so pleased with it.
Well, if you've read this far  I want to Thank You for coming by for a visit! Hope you are having a fabulous day!

Experiencing Technical Difficulties...

Hello readers... I'm so sorry it's been a week since my last post. I have been working on a number of crafty projects to share, but due to having had to replace my computer and purchasing new software and updating firmware on my cricut and everything else I've hit a snag. The new photo editing software I purchased isn't letting me install because the serial number is bad. Nice, right?! Sheesh!

So, I'm attempting to get some random customer service (loosely used term)  person to help me with it.

In the mean time, I'm going to attempt to load my pictures to my old pc and then transfer them to my new pc so you can see all my projects. Seems simple enough, right? But, for some reason it's taking me three times longer.

The control freak in me is having a melt down while the "Keep Calm Craft On" side is saying, "It'll all work out."

Sure,... but WHEN???!!! I want it No-o-o-o-ow! (Insert Veruka's voice here)

Don't give up on me just yet. I promise to be back soon...

How To: Make Hydrangea Flower

I'm back today with the tutorial on how I put together my hydrangea flowers.

First, gather your supplies. Of course you need to plug in your hot glue gun first so it can be nice and hot when you're ready to go. Next, use your Cricut to cut out the blossoms and the leaves.  Below, I used cream cardstock and then inked up the edges of each  blossom's petal with blue ink. You could use any ink color you have. They look great in pink, purple, orange, red, blue, green.... Since hydrangeas naturally come in so many colors the options are endless.

Pretty flowers....

Hiya... Sorry I've been MIA.
Nothing exciting to tell. I wasn't at CHA or anything. Just mommy stuff going on over here on my end.

Back in December cute, crafty Penny created a terrific SCAL/MTC file and tutorial to make some wonderful hydrangea flowers.
I immediately emailed her to ask if she'd mind if I made a DS/Gypsy version. I was so grateful that she said yes.  I mean, I could have made the file for myself but I wouldn't have been able to have it available for you.
Any whoooooo.... I'm outta here again. I'll be back soon with a tutorial tomorrow or Thursday
Have a wonderful night!

  • DS or Gypsy file available.
  • All Tags,Bags,Boxes & More and Gypsy Wanderings    (I created this file completely on my G so I used carts available with the free carts given with the G.)
