Class: SCAL Basics

Hi everyone,
I've been promising a SCAL Q&A or class for a while.  I'd like to put a live one together as soon as possible. I want to set the class date and time so that it works for you. I need your feedback:

  • What day of the week works for you??
  • Do mornings or evenings work best for you?   (please include your time zone)

Class cost will be $20
It will last about 90 minutes with question and answer periods.

Chat with you soon!

  2. What is SCAL? I assume it deals with the Cricut, but I'm not sure about the rest!

Make the Cut (MTC), Sure Cuts A Lot (SCAL) and Design Studio (DS) are all three software programs that can be used with the Cricut machine to cut shapes. Design Studio is the only software program authorized by Provo Craft for use with the Cricut machine, but the others work also. The biggest perk to using these programs is the ability to manipulate shapes as well as welding shapes together to create specialty shaped cards or designs.

The biggest difference between the three programs is that the other software programs (MTC and SCAL) do not limit you to only what is available on Cricut cartridges the way DS does. For example, with the other programs you are able to cut any TrueType font you have on your computer. You're also able to cut any traced picture (jpg, gif, png....)

  7. Where can you purchase the Sure Cuts A Lot (SCAL) software? I have Design Studio, but have never gotten it to work on my computer.

  8. I am interested in SCAL but scared to use it because they say it voids the warranty on the cricut. Have there been any issues with SCAL?

  9. Hi FreeTime.... (1) how old is your Cricut? Mine is over a year old so there's no warranty anyway. (2) I've never had any issues using SCAL and DS on my machine. I have had them both open on my pc at the same time and Inkscape too and they don't conflict in any way. (3) the software is on your computer not on your Cricut. The Firmware is Cricut's. That is on you machine. If there is a problem with your cricut then in my opinion, it was something that was downloaded via firmware to your machine from PC not from SCAL.
