Paper Popsicles: Shimmerz Paints Projects!

Hey all! Remember this picture? (It was first teased on this post.)

Well, Tuesday is the day! Several of the Paper Popsicles girls were asked to create some fun projects using Shimmerz Paints. Now we all get to show off our creations! I try not to procrastinate so I created most of mine a few weeks ago and have been hiding them until now.

Originally, one of my projects was the layout I created for Stacey when Paper Popsicles had the virtual baby shower. But since our project reveal was delayed by a couple weeks I had to create a new project.

You can see the full picture of each one in the Paper Popsicles Gallery. (NOTE: You have to register for it separately from the Paper Popsicles message board - you can use the same login name, but it's a completely separate login.)

Once you've logged in, look for the Design Team area then find the Shimmerz Project folder.

You will see small thumbnail pictures of each project. Just click on the first one. A larger version will open up. You can make comments, rate them (click on the stars), and then use the arrow at the top of the screen to move through the whole album. Hopefully you'll have time to not only look at the creations but you'll share the love too. :)

Have a great night!

Paper Popsicles: Spooky Treats

I was wasting time yesterday morning wandering the isles at Target and stumbled upon this little beauty....

I have been using a stainless steel little spatula that is too small to be any good to me in the kitchen. It has worked just fine, but when I saw the citrus green color I couldn't spend my money fast enough. (I thought it was less than a $1, but I just checked my receipt and it was less than $2.)

I couldn't wait to put my new crafty tool to the test. I created and cut out a welded paper ribbon design to go on my project (below). Not only did my new spatula help life my design off the mat but it also made quick work of the left over bits too! YAY!

No more having to scrap them up with my fingernails.

[Edit: Forgot to mention, if green is not your thing these little scrapers are available in other colors. I saw white, blue and orange on the hook.]

So then I made a scallopy layer to go with the Freebie Friday that I got from Paper Popsicles. I've been in a Halloween mood so I colored it in purple, green and black with a touch of orange and silver. I hand wrote the words.

If you haven't gotten your Freebie yet you better hurry. Just a few more hours until it won't be free any more...

And here was the first decorated jar I created. The picture doesn't really show off the layers very well. The skeleton ribbon was all welded together and then a few random white skeletons inked with a beige marker were glued ontop. Then the web was welded inside a ring and glued to the white. "Spooky Treats" is popped out with foam adhesive. It was cut in a purple paper and layered onto a green paper and Stickled to add some sparkle.

The spider is dangling from a coiled wire which is coming out from behind the web. A little sparkle was added to the web and also to the spider as well...

Here's the finished product:

I love fun Halloween treat gifts! :) (cute ones, not gorey icky ones) These cute little apothocary jars are less than $3 at Walmart! Can you believe it?! So cool! Well, hope you all have a wonderful weekend! No big plans here but I'm sure I'll think of something.

Oh, Diane and I have scheduled our classes for the next two weeks on the LMSY blog. If you're interested in any of them let us know.

Picnic Anyone?

Life is beginning to get back to normal now that my son is back in school. I actually made this last week for Nicole, but am just now able to post it.... The cutest little picnic basket!!

And see the brad? It's a white brad that I painted Fire Engine Red Shimmerz onto. Yes! It works on metal too! :) While adding some Shimmerz to the edges of the paper I decided to see what would happen when Shimmerz was painted onto the metal brad. You may need to apply a couple coats to get your desired effect, but it does work. Also, please note: the paint will scratch off if you don't seal it. Please use glaze or something to seal it so that doesn't happen.

I put two handle options in the file. The twisted/braided look on the top basket is on one tab. The double-handle look pictured on the bottom basket is on another.

Nicole shared her picnic basket on her blog as a part of a birthday gift she created for her mom. {Happy birthday mom!} Thanks for sharing Nicole!

Paper Popsicles: Baby Bottle digital design

This cute baby bottle digital stamp comes from Paper Popsicles. I used it to create some thank you cards as a gift for Stacey during the virtual baby shower we've been throwing for her the last couple days on the message board.

Some of the cards open vertically...

Others open horizontally.
And apparently, I'm not the only one that likes to color.

While I was creating this small set of cards my son decided he needed to color some baby bottles too. :) (Fun for the whole family *wink*)

Hope you're all having a great Sunday!
First day of school tomorrow. Here's hoping life gets back to normal.

By the way, we have a Word Book Class and a Full Page Design Class available this week at LetMeShowYouHowToDoThat. Hopefully you'll be able to join us!

Sassy thing!

Growing up, each summer as far back as I can remember my folks took us on a summer trip to Disneyland. When I was little I remember how ominous the Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean rides were. As I got older I really started to enjoy them and now they are my favorites. Is it any wonder then that when I fell in love with the Cosmo Cricket papers that were released last October? They are so cool. Yeah, I know, they're not new for this year but if you're luck you will still be able to get your hands on them. Paper Popsicles still has some in stock! :)

With that in mind, I created a sassy little bustier bag. Actually, it's not little at all. It's huge! The front and back panels take up a full 12x12 sheet each. I'm considering making a smaller version for those that may not want something so large. Just let me know if you're interested.

After cutting the top layer panel out, I used my Shimmerz paints in Apricot and lightly brushed the paint over the black areas on the Gothic paper to add a bit of glimmer. The paint is so sheer that you can barely see the difference in color, but it's just enough somethin'-somethin'. Then I took the Fire Engine Red Shimmerz and dotted a few places here and there too.

After it was dry, I cut the front panel in half, marked where I wanted the gromets to go and put them in using my crop-o-dile. (such a great tool!)

Then I layered the two panels onto the base panel for the front of my bag along with some pieces of the back of the Gothic paper cut in a lacey style reminiscent of the MS border punch. (Did i mention the Cosmo Cricket papers are 2 sided? And both are fab!)

I used a bit of green stitched ribbon I found at my local Michael's to lace up the front of the bodice on the bag.

When putting the bag together I originally used Bazzill Black Tuxedo. I loved the little bit of glimmer on it. Then pieced together the side and bottom panels and attached them to the back base panel. (see pic below.) if you want vertical sides you can do that, but I wanted to see how it would work with the sides angled out to match the front and back of the bag.

Last of all, I attached the front panel of the bag. I used my ATG gun and it held just fine. As you can see, it is a large bag, standing about 11 inches tall and approximately 10 inches wide. I definitely would recommend using stiffer cardstock if you plan to fill it full of anything that is heavy. The Bazzill cardstock cut beautifully but for a bat this big you will probably want something a bit more like chipboard strength.

I hope you like the bag. You certainly don't have to create yours in the same fashion that I did mine, but I know that my Bikini Card has been so popular. I couldn't resist some kind of follow up to go with it.

Hope you have yourself a fabulous day!

Jodie made a darling "tulip" version of this same bag. (Yes the extra tab is included in the file for those that want to make it that way.) I guess you could say Jodie is the reason the bag is so large. She wanted it that big. :) THANKS for sharing Jodie and for encouraging me to create this bag!! Your friend is going to love it!

Hey everybody!Free Smiley Courtesy of www.millan.net
I know, I've been pretty neglectful of my blog lately. Sorry. This summer has been crazy busy for me. The last couple weeks are a bit of a blur. My sis and her kids came to town to visit and we had a great time. Never long enough, but fun was had by all.

Also, I have been recuperating from a bit of surgery. When I was younger I would have bounced back super fast, but this procedure has really kicked my tail! Free Smiley Courtesy of www.millan.netI have been feeling a lot better lately so I have been doing some creating for Paper Popsicles 'behind the scenes' as it were. I hope to be sharing my creations with you REALLY soon. In the mean time, here is a little teaser of a few things I've been working on. :)

Free Smiley Courtesy of www.millan.netAnd, after taking a brief summer vacation, Diane and I are starting to schedule classes again. Anyone interested in taking the Getting Started, Basic Cards or Creating Word Books classes? We have one of each scheduled for this next week. We are also working on creating some new classes for those of you who have already taken these classes.

Just one more week of summer break for my son then he starts back to school. Hopefully that means my life will normalize and I'll be able to get back to my regular crafty schedule.

Last but not least, I have created a new bag .... I'll be posting that later today or tomorrow I hope. My son is crawling all over me as I type this so I need to get him settled so I can go plug in my bug to test cut the design for you. We've had some toasty hot weather lately so playing outside usually doesn't last more than 15 minutes. Free Smiley Courtesy of www.millan.net Such is the nature of the AZ desert in the summer.

Hope you are all enjoying your summer. I really do appreciate your continued support.
